John Reed Myers
Mary Jane Roulston
John Reed Myers was born in Kent, DE in 1855. He lived on his father’s plantation and attended the local schools in Kent County, DE. At age 19, he studied and became a telegrapher for 2 years. He then became a deputy sheriff for a year. Afterward, he read law in Baltimore, MD, became an attorney, and moved in 1887 to set up practice in St. Louis, MO.
He married Mary Jane Roulston and they raised 4 children, 2 boys and 2 girls. He died in 1905 of pneumonia. He is buried in Gateway Gardens Cemetery in downtown St. Louis, MO.
Mary Jane Roulston was born on 11 May 1859 in Covington, Kenton, Kentucky, USA as the third child of Richard Roulston and Susan Osborn. She had six siblings, namely: Margaret Galbraith, William Morton, Richard, Ada, Archie, and James Alexander. She lived in Xenia, Clay, Illinois, USA in 1860, Jeffersonville, Fayette, Ohio, USA in 1870 and in St Louis Ward 24, St Louis (Independent City), Missouri, USA in 1900.
When she was 32, she married John Reed Myers, son of John W. Myers Sr. and Emily Jane Reed, on 26 Aug 1891 in St Louis (Independent City), Missouri USA.
After John’s death in 1905, she lived in St Louis (Independent City), Missouri, USA between 1906 –1908 (1708 Goode Avenue), in 1909 (3912A Laclede Avenue), in 1910 (1708 Cote Brilliante), in 1911 (5308 Theodosia Avenue), and at the time of her death, in 1913 (1221 Hodiamont Avenue).
Prior to her death, her career was as a housewife & mother raising her four children. After John’s death, she kept herself busy as a saleslady.
She died on 21 Feb 1913 in St Louis,(Independent City), Missouri, USA. Her cause of death was a heart attack walking to Mildred’s house with William Morton Roulston on 21 Feb 1913. She was buried on 24 Feb 1913 in St Louis, St Louis, Missouri, USA (New Picker Cemetery (Section A, Lot 104, Grave #5)).
