Life Summary

John was born near Millington, Kent, MD in 1824. He was reared on the farm. He enjoyed the farm life and spent a lot of time hunting. This activity interfered with his studies. He made up for this in later years by hard work at his books. At 19 his father died. He took charge of the farm for many years.

He eventually sold it for 64 acres in Kenton Hundred, DE, where he built substantial buildings. He married Emily Reed in 1849 and they raised 2 boys. The oldest boy, William, died at age 16. Emily Reed died in 1857 in Kent, MD.

When she was 21, she married John W. Myers Sr., son of William Miers and Anna Maria Lomax, on 01 Aug 1859 in Delaware.
